First thing we looked for were hot springs. We were delighted to find out than less than 10 min walk from where the ship’s shuttle bus left us was a local public bath house.

Sign in entrance (a bit small in photo) – no entrance if you are drunk, no entering with tattoos, no dogs.

Inside, woman’s area and men’s area, no one there was wearing a bathing suit, a little awkward at first.

There are signs to bath before entering the pools, Alon and I were the only foreigners visiting the hot spring.

The water in the pools was salty full of minerals, it was pumped from an underground hot spring.

We walked around the streets of Akita a small city, it was Saturday so many of the small shops were closed, the streets were quite empty, and most of the tourists walking around were from our ship.

We walked around in the local a fish and vegetable market, always interesting to see where the locals shop and what kind of food can be found. The shopkeepers were all so nice and friendly.

We were lucky to find a quaint little coffee shop. Lovely decor and atmosphere. I really liked the menu design.
